FAQs

How do I know if we’re a good fit for therapy?

I know finding a therapist can feel daunting and I’m here to help you through the process. We’ll start with a consultation call, where I’ll learn more about what why you’re looking for a therapist and we’ll go over logistics. From there, we’ll begin meeting once per week and if we still feel like it’s a good fit, we’ll come up with a treatment plan together. You can schedule a complimentary call here.

How often will we meet for therapy?

We will meet once per week. I strongly believe in the importance of consistent sessions, especially as we are getting to know one another. After a few months, we will check in and assess whether it’d be most beneficial to meet on a less frequent basis. After the initial period of weekly sessions, I do offer bi-weekly sessions on a case-by-case basis, but there is less flexibility in time slots.

Do you accept insurance?

While I’m not in network with any insurance companies, I can provide a superbill each month. This is a receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement using your out-of-network benefits. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions around this, I’m happy to help!

Are you a licensed mental health professional?

I hold an LMSW in the state of New York and work under the supervision of Dr. Lauren Jessell, LCSW, PhD. You can find out more about the practice here.

Who do you work with?

I work with adults of all sexualities, gender identities, nationalities, body sizes, and races. I specialize in anxiety and depression, grief and loss, and trauma. With a focus on mindfulness, I help with emotional regulation and offer space to dig deeper for greater healing, including integrating EMDR into my work with trauma and stuckness.

How does virtual therapy work?

I meet with clients over a HIPAA-compliant version of Zoom. I have found online therapy offers greater flexibility and accessibility, making space for more consistency and comfort for my clients.

What is the benefit of seeing an out of network provider?

When you work with an out of network provider, you’re choosing to receive highly specialized care. I am able to keep my caseload smaller, meaning I have more bandwidth to dedicate attention and care to each client. You are able to create your therapeutic journey with me, rather than your insurance company. The therapeutic relationship is the most important aspect of successful therapy, so choose the therapist that’s best for you.

GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE

As of January 1, 2022, all therapists are required to post this notice.

Notice to current and prospective clients

  • Under the new federal No Surprises Act, health care providers need to give clients who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy.

  • You can ask your health care provider for a Good Faith Estimate before your first session, or at any time during treatment.

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. So you might want to save a copy or photo of your Good Faith Estimate if you get one.

  • For more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, or how to dispute a bill, see your Estimate or www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
